That Was The Week That Was 16.9.12

The third episode of series 7 (Toby Whithouse's A Town Called Mercy) aired last night, and achieved an excellent overnight viewing figure of 6.6 million - that's more than a million up on last week. Earlier in the week, Asylum of the Daleks was revealed to have gained a further 2 million viewers once time-shifted viewing was taken into account. Of the reviews I've read so far, most people have fallen into the trap of comparing Mercy to the last couple of episodes and not judging it on its own merits or demerits. You can't compare apples to bananas.

Other snippets from the week:
> On Monday night, Doctor Who won Best Family Drama at the TV Choice Awards. Smith & Gillan missed out on individual prizes.
> Midweek it was announced that the Radiophonic Workshop would be resurrected in an on-line form.
> On Friday evening, the programme returned as a specialist subject round in BBC TV's Mastermind. I didn't get round to watching it but I've seen the questions and I can smugly say I knew them all...
> Matt Smith was one of the guests at James (Craig Owens) Corden's wedding yesterday.

Looking forward to the coming week, DWM 452 will be hitting the shops from Thursday 20th September, with a choice of two covers.
The new issue of SFX (227, with the Bond cover) has already been received by we subscribers (in the shops from Wednesday). It includes a Matt Smith interview.
River Song actress Alex Kingston will be appearing in the BBC's generally fascinating genealogy programme Who Do You Think You Are...? on the evening of Wednesday 19th.

Saturday, of course, gives us The Power of Three (expect the usual publicity rush around Tuesday) which sees Jemma Redgrave as UNIT's latest Scientific Adviser - and Rory Williams, in his pants.
